Hi, I’m Erika, and I am so glad that you have stopped by.
My childhood was spent among the beautiful rolling hills of England and the historic streets of France; the forests of Cameroon and the deserts of Senegal. We lived along rivers, in mud huts, in huge block houses, in jungles, in cities and in 2-flats. Through it all, I was raised and guided by parents who loved me fiercely, and put God first in thought and deed. As missionaries, they made life as a Missionary Kid seem normal when it was anything but that. All this have influenced the woman I have become and continue to be in Christ. I am passionate about social justice and seeing marginalized women come to experience life to the fullest through Jesus Christ. I am privileged to live along the big blue lake in Michigan with my family – three kids (2 biological sons and an adopted daughter), one God-focused man, and the proud pet parent of 2 dogs, 1 cat and a guinea pig. I have a BA in Sociology and Psychology and an MA in Organizational Leadership. I am grateful for my past, encouraged for my present and inspired for my future with Christ as my vine.
I hope that we will get to know each other better and I am glad we are on this journey together.
Erika speaks at churches and women’s events primarily throughout Southwest Michigan.
She has a passion for sharing the Peace of God entitled, “He Called Her Daughter”, which takes the story of the Woman in Mark 5 and relates it to peace in today’s difficult world.
Erika also speaks on trauma - in the work place, as parents and as anyone wanting to know more about how to deal those around them that have lived through difficult situations.
She has written a book entitled Little Bird, a picture book for women. In a world full of fear, change and negativity, Little Bird finds her courage to leave the safety of her nest. Her journey to the Great Cliff where she will finally learn to fly comes at great cost - she must overcome the voices that surround her, telling her she is not good enough, she's too weak and she'll never be accepted. Join Little Bird as she meets a condescending eagle, a sly fox and a sleazy snake. Through their taunting, she comes face-to-face with her biggest fear - herself. Guided by Brown Bird (Christ) and with encouragement from the Wind (The Holy Spirit), she begins to trust and see all that she was created for - to fly!
Little Bird is written for all women, no matter where they are in life. However, it was carefully written to minister to women who are marginalized, in domestic violence situations, struggling with mental health issues, in homeless shelters or rehab facilities.... Women who feel like no one sees them or simply do not feel like they are enough.
Erika has also put together two journals - one for prayer and one for peace. She enjoys mosaic crafts and typically will have one to give away at each presentation, event or workshop as a door prize. She can also recommend items to give to attendees, such as lavender sachet's, a thrawl, or a special notebook or pen.
